2472. Foundation gallery : A gallery provided in the dam body for access to the foundations for inspection and/or drainage for percolated water from the upstream face or seepage through the dam. Generally it is provided along the length of the dam near the rock-surfaces and conforming to the elevations in the transverse profile of the canyon, located near the axis of the dam in parallel. The foundation gallery allows drilling of holes to enable grouting of foundation or to capture percolated/seeped water.

2472. Galerie de fondation : Galerie prévue dans le corps d`un barrage pour accéder aux fondations pour inspection et/ou drainage de l`eau infiltrée par le parement amont ou à travers le barrage. Il est généralement fourni suivant la longueur du barrage au voisinage de la surface du rocher, en s`adaptant en hauteur au profil transversal du canon, situé parallèlement à l`axe du barrage. La galerie permet le percement des trous pour faciliter la jointement de la fondation ou pour capter l`eau infiltrée.
