3178. Rabi and monsoon sections of a canal : These terms are used in Indian sub-continent. The `rabi section` is the cross-sectional area of a canal in which assured supply is available for maturing two-season and rabi crops only. The rest of the cross section is the `monsoon section` in which water may be supplied when available, in the monsoon and rabi seasons without any assurance.
