3746. Culvert aqueduct : A structure carries drainage water under the canal section. The head walls of the structure may support the canal banks or replace the banks. In the former case, it is called a `culvert aqueduct with full canal banks` and in the latter case `culvert aqueduct with canal bank retaining walls`. Small structures of this type are called `subways` (illustrated).
